Mercedes Benz C Class AMG

The German luxury car maker Mercedes Benz recently launched the new Mercedes Benz C Class AMG performance edition with a sports package. During the launch company also announced that they are planning to launch several other models in the current year. It is expected that next launch from Mercedes in India is likely to be from their B-Class range around the festive season this year followed by the A-class and the new E-Class range next year. The Mercedes C Class 250 CDi AMG performance edition has been hailed as the most hostile vehicle in terms of driving and handling. This C-Class model has features like AMG body kit, which includes Stainless steel exhaust, front disc brakes, AMG alloy wheels and sports suspension. The interiors of this AMG variant are also classy and provide a sporty look to the car . The main attraction would be the AMG sports package which includes the paddle shift, 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel with 12 function keys on it, aluminum look gear shifter,  tapered surrounds around instrument cluster, black color AMG floor mats, high resolution 4.5-inch TFT color display and brushed stainless steel AMG sports pedals. The car is powered by a 2143cc diesel engine that generates a maximum 150bhp at 4200rpm and a torque of 500Nm for a range between 1600-1800rpm. The CDI engine has a compression ratio of 16.2:1 and is mated with a 5 speed automatic transmission system. The C Class has been one of the most successful segments from the Mercedes portfolio and has received and overwhelming response. This new model redefines the luxury entry level sedan segment. The car is going to give a tough completion to the other sport sedans which includes the recently launched Audi A4, Audi S4 and the upcoming BMW 3 series sport model. 

Mileage

The Blue Efficiency diesel engine that the car incorporates in it consists comes with comprehensive vehicle optimization designed to save fuel and to reduce the carbon emissions. It has latest generation aerodynamic and energy management measure to minimize fuel consumption. The Blue-Tech technology in diesel engine is based on Common Rail Fuel Injection system, which not only removes 95% of the particulate matter from exhaust gases and reduces the fuel consumption to a lot extent.

Power

The car is powered by a C 250 CDI Blue efficiency engine that comes with a displacement of 2143cc.The 4 cylinder diesel engine produces a maximum of 150bhp at 4200rpm and a peak torque of 500Nm in a range between 1600-1800rpm . This power and torque is enough to provide this car a good acceleration and pick up.

Acceleration and pick up

The 2143cc engine in the car generates a high power and torque. The power and the torque generated can readily accelerate the car from 0-100kmph in just 7 seconds. If compared to its competitors only Audi S4 has a better acceleration as it can go from 0-100kmph in just 5 seconds , whereas Audi A4 and BMW 3 series lays nowhere near it.

Exteriors

The exteriors of this Merc stay true to its nature and extremely elegant. Confident and Captivating, with a striking, masculine exterior and the start of the art innovations C-Class simply goes its own way. The 250 AMG is larger, wider and longer than its last generation. This model boasts head turning look to match its dynamic driving conditions. In the front the car has bold new radiator grille between the Xenon Headlights with intelligent Light system and stylish LED daytime running lights, the all-round AMG body styling, including AMG front apron, rear apron and side skirts provide this car a sporty look. The 17 inch alloy wheels and the panoramic sunroof add to the beauty.

Interiors

The interior combines intelligent design with exceptional luxury. The fascinating form of the C-Class with its powerful and provocative front section sets the heart racing. The new dashboard has a tactile, grained surface and incorporates a large, full color centre display screen which allows us to easily access navigation, communication and entertainment information. The ARTICO man made leather upholstery in three color options with the inside of doors and carpets match the selected interior color perfectly. Some of the advanced features in the car include the manual sunblind for left and right door, electric sunblind for rear windows, automatically dimming rear view mirror, cruise control, electric window lifter, multi function steering wheel. So overall the interior of the car is very elegantly designed and  gives a very soothing effect.

Engine

The car under its hood carries C250 CDI Blue Efficiency diesel engine which comes with a displacement of 2143cc . The 4 cylinder engine produces a maximum of 150bhp at the rate of 4200rpm and a maximum torque of 500Nm for a range between 1600-1800rpm. It has compression ratio of 16.2:1 which is very good as higher the compression ratio higher mechanical energy is developed with less fuel. The Blue-Tech engine is very eco-friendly and reduces the exhaust emissions from the engine to a lot extent. The engine comes mated with a 7 speed automatic transmission system that ensure an ideally adapted engine speed at all times, short shift time and smooth shifts.

Braking and Handling

The car has in it a very effective brake mechanism; it includes ABS with EBD to avoid skidding of the car and reduce the braking distance. The handling includes the 7 speed gearbox which readily falls into hand and the power steering to ensure butter-smooth drive with a low turn radius.

Safety Features

The car is equipped with a whole lot of safety features. The main attraction would be the intelligent illumination system that has six systems which are Country mode, Motorway mode, Enhanced Fog Lamps, Active light function, Cornering light function, Adaptive High beam assist. It also has the attention assist which can detect signs of drowsiness and inattentiveness, and alert the driver in time to prevent the accidents. This is done through a number of sensors that detect and analyze the vehicle behavior and steering movements. It has the Pre-Safe system that which detects the critical driving situations as they start to arise and initiating measures to protect the occupants as precaution.

Stereo and Accessories

The accessories of the C250 model include the AMG kit which has a whole lot of features in it, ranging from the interior design to the handling of the car.
