B-Class B180 Sport Review

The Mercedes-Benz B-Class B 180 Sport is a variant in this model series, and one of the most plush vehicles unveiled in the Indian market. Like all models of this expensive brand, the car commands a sense of awe with its exterior build and inner grandeur. The sporty front apron has a diamond pattern along with chrome highlights, and the wide grille packs a masculine appeal. The 10 spoke alloy wheels impose a stunning look as well. A feature to be prized with this car is its panoramic roof, which adds to its exterior delight and at the same time, gives occupants a relieved feel when seated. The cabin brims with fine design elements and features of comfort. The driver's seat comes with a memory package, and an electrical adjustment system for the most eased out experience. The trip computer has a multifunction display, while the instrument cluster comes with 4 analogue dials and suspended needles. The controller in the center console is garnished with a chrome surround. A high resolution media display with a 17.8cm screen ordains an enriched entertainment experience. Coming to the inner mechanisms, the vehicle is powered by a turbocharged petrol engine. The car can whoosh to top speeds of nearly 200kmph, which is a figure to be admired in this class. Its speed capacities are insulted by sound control programs like an an adaptive brake and an acceleration skid control.

Exteriors:

An enhanced vision for the front portion adds to the appeal. The soft nose design of the front bumper, together with the sweeping lines, give it a more organic look. The radiator trim comes with a striking diamond grille, and a matt black effect permeates it. The twin louvres are painted in matt iridium silver, and with the large Mercedes star is posted at the center that gives it a more daring statement. The swept-back headlamp clusters on either sides add an aggressive touch to the look, and they come incorporated with LED high performance headlamps. The front apron is improved with the large air intake section that helps to diffuse engine heat. The side of the vehicle is given its grandeur through the large wheels with the dynamically designed rims. A fluidic body line rises from the lower side of the fenders to the tail lamps. The black window frames are a boon to the look as well, placing a distinguished effect upon the model. The rear of the vehicle has been sculpted for a good look as well as a functional design. The sporty proportions allow a wide area for the rear compartment, as well as a low load compartment sill. The contoured trim on the rear bumper, together with the chrome strip makes for a more emphatic effect.

Interiors:

This is a company that prides itself on luxury and sophistication, and this model meets all expectations with this regard. The interiors have been branded for an effect of eloquence and lavishness, with the best leather upholstery, fine metal accents and many other plush add-ons. The wide seats have been engineered with strong ergonomics, ensuring the least discomfort for the occupants. A strong lateral support is also provided with the backrests and pronounced seat bolsters. A central armrest is present for the front row, and door-side armrests give support to the rear occupants. Headrests make for protection in addition to comfort. The front seats have been dressed with ARTICO man-made full leather that comes with a beige/black effect. The rear seats can be folded down to a 1/3 or a 2/3 split, giving added room for storage if needed.

Engine and Performance:

The model is powered by a petrol engine, which displaces 1595cc. It has an arrangement of 4 inline cylinders for effective performance. The plant yields a power of 122hp at 5000rpm, together with a torque of 200Nm at 1250rpm to 4000rpm. The engine is rendered a more fluidic working with the benefit of a 7-speed automatic dual clutch transmission gear box with paddle shifts. The company has programmed it with a variable valve timing for efficiency, while a turbocharger boosts performance. Meanwhile, the high pressure direct fuel injection allows precise fuel delivery.

Braking and Handling:

All round, internally ventilated discs keep the car within bars of control when driving. Beside this, the vehicle has also been built with an Anti lock braking system, which prevents skidding or clasping of the wheels. An electronic stability program further governs the safety of the vehicle. Then, brake assist and hill start assist also emerges as vital functions for the car's handling mechanism.

Comfort Features:

In addition to backrests and headrests, the driver's seat comes with a 4 way lumbar support for strainless driving. A 12V socket at the rear gives occupants the ability to charge devices. Then, the vehicle also features an outside temperature display, a dust filter with the air conditioning and an ECO start/stop facility. A new generation telematics audio 2.0 system adds high quality entertainment to the passengers' experience. This goes along with a multimedia system that coems with radio, twin tuner and CD player facilities. Bluetooth facility allows occupants to make hands free calls, and to use their devices for audio streaming. A central locking system is another boon for the driver, and it comes with an interior switch and a crash sensor.

Safety Features:

There is a unique Attention Assist facility, which works to keep the driver alert through the drive. A tyre pressure monitoring system reduces chances of tyre-related mishaps. A crash responsive emergency lighting marks the magnificence of the car's design, which goes out of the way to bring quality in every facet. There is also an audible warning for unbuckled front seatbelts. Beside all of this, the car's airbag system includes front passenger airbags, side impact pelvis airbags, window airbags and a knee airbag for the driver as well. Lastly, ISOFIX child seat mounting enforce additional safety for the needs of children.

Pros:

1. Massive range of comfort qualities within the cabin.

2. Numerous strong safety programs.

Cons:

1. Its exterior appeal could use enhancement.

2. The performance is considerably weak.
