Jazz 2014-2020 1.2 SV i VTEC Review

Honda Jazz is the latest newcomer hatchback model in our country's market. It competes with the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punto Evo and a few others in this segment. It is available with both petrol and diesel engine's, with Honda Jazz 1.2 SV i VTEC being its mid range petrol variant. It is incorporated with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that generates 88.76bhp in combination with torque of 110Nm. This mill is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission gear box that helps in returning a decent mileage of around 18.7 Kmpl. The firm has offered it with various safety aspects like dual front SRS airbags, central locking, ACE body structure, and rear window defogger to name a few. This trim has attractive interiors, which is decorated in a dual tone color scheme. The center console is designed elegantly, while the other equipments on dashboard like music system, steering wheel and air vents gives a modern feel to its cockpit. A fine quality fabric upholstery covers its seats, whereas the storage spaces add to the convenience of its occupants. Its exteriors too, look quite stylish with a bold front radiator grille that is surrounded by large headlamps. On the sides, it includes door mirrors as well as a set of 15 inch steel wheels. On the whole, its striking design combined with many noticeable features gives the best look to this hatchback.

It comes with a boot compartment of 354 litres, which is the best in its segment. This luggage space can be further increased by folding the rear seat. Other aspects in the cabin include assist grips, rear parcel shelf, inside rear view mirror, front seats back pockets, front console box, outside temperature display, and a few others.

Engine and Performance:

This mid range trim is fitted with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that has a total displacement capacity of 1199cc. It carries 4-cylinders, sixteen valves and is based on a single overhead camshaft valve configuration. This i-VTEC mill is skillfully coupled with a five speed manual transmission gear box. It has the ability to produce a peak power of 88.76bhp at 6000rpm. In terms of torque, it can yield 110Nm at 4800rpm. On the bigger roads, it can return a fuel economy of around 18.7 Kmpl, which comes down to nearly 14 Kmpl within the city. This motor propels the vehicle to attain a top speed of around 150 to 155 Kmph and accelerates from 0 to 100 Kmph in about 13 seconds.

Braking and Handling:

It is incorporated with a reliable braking system wherein, disc brakes are fitted to its front wheels and drum brakes are used for the rear ones. This variant comes with a proficient suspension system that keeps the vehicle stable no matter how the road conditions are. The three spoke steering wheel has tilt adjustment function, while it has front and rear power operated windows. The sunvisors include vanity mirror with lid on front passenger side. Besides these, it includes an advanced integrated audio unit featuring 12.7cm display screen. It has CD, MP3 player, AM/FM radio tuner as well as four speakers. It also supports USB port and auxiliary input options. Apart from these, the list also includes steering wheel mounted with audio and call controls, electrically adjustable ORVMs, cargo light, foot rest, tachometer and many other such aspects.
