A3 cabriolet 40 TFSI Premium Plus Review

Barely few months after introducing the A3 sedan model in India, the German automaker Audi has launched a new cabriolet version in this most desired car series. The manufacturer has launched it in one trim level only and it is christened as Audi A3 Cabriolet 40 TFSI Premium Plus . This version is nothing, but the soft top model of its already existing sedan series. At the same time, it has two doors and offers seating to four occupants only. This convertible version has most of the exterior cosmetics from its sedan version including the signature hexagonal shaped radiator grille, xenon plus headlamps along with LED DRLs. It also gets automatic fabric hood featuring a space-saving k-folding design and an integrated rear windscreen. This fabric hood closes and opens in just 18 seconds even while the vehicle moving at a speed of 50 Kmph. While focusing on its comfort features, the manufacturer has given utmost importance to the safety features by incorporating anti slip regulation, electronic stability control system and a secondary collision brake assist function. Another most innovative feature is its recommendation system that analyses the driving pattern, it provides visual and acoustic notifications to the the driver about the possible need to take rest.

Exteriors:


This convertible version has a smart external appearance like any other Audi model owing to its trademark features. Its front facade looks stylish like any other vehicle in the Audi's portfolio as it features a large hexagonal shaped radiator grille with chrome plated frame. In the center, it is embedded with the company's logo that dazzles the frontage. It is surrounded by the sleek headlight cluster, which is powered by xenon plus headlamps and the signature LED daytime running lights. The front bumper houses a pair of large air ducts provided that the engine receives better ventilation for cooling. The front windscreen frame along with the waistline molding is garnished in aluminum. Coming to its side facet, there are two expressive lines passing all the way from headlights to taillights. It has massive fenders are fitted with 'Star' design rims, which are further embedded with brand's logo. The most stylish aspect of this vehicle is its rear facet where, it features a wide and aggressive taillight cluster. It houses all LED brake lights and turn blinkers, which is a signature in all of company's models. The rear bumper is fitted with a metallic lower cladding that embraces a pair of chrome plated exhaust pipes.

Interiors:


Coming to the internal cabin, this Audi A3 Cabriolet 40 TFSI Premium Plus trim has a rich ambiance inside, as it is done up with extensive use of leather and premium scratch resistant material. There is an option for the buyers to customize the cabin with a color scheme of their choice. At the same time, they can also opt for a premium quality leather upholstery with contrast stitching, which certainly amplifies the cabin. This vehicle is furnished with two individual seats in the cockpit, whereas its rear cabin has seating space for two occupants. Both the front seats have electrically adjustment facility along with memory function as well. Its dashboard has a plain design, but it is decorated with exclusively designed metallic veneers. Its central console houses an infotainment system, whose touchscreen device pops out when needed. The steering wheel has a conventional three spoke design and it is decorated with a lot of chrome accents. This variant is powered by a 1.8-litre TFSI petrol engine that has FSI direct fuel injection technology. It comprises of 4-cylinders and 16-valves along with a turbocharger. This DOHC based petrol engine has a displacement capacity of 1798cc. It has the ability to produce a maximum power of 177bhp between 5100 to 6200rpm, while generating a maximum torque of 250Nm at 1250 to 5000rpm. The manufacturer has paired this power plant to a seven speed S Tronic automatic transmission gearbox that powers the front wheels. The manufacturer claims that the vehicle has the ability to give away a peak mileage of approximately 17 Kmpl.

Braking and Handling:

In terms of suspension, this vehicle gets an advanced McPherson strut on its front axle and the rear one is paired with a multi-link system, which are capable enough to deal with jerks caused on uneven road condition. As far as its braking is concerned, the front wheels are fitted with ventilated disc brakes, whereas the rear ones are paired with solid disc brakes. Additionally, this disc braking mechanism is further assisted by anti lock braking system and electronic brake force distribution. At the same time, its anti slip regulation function and electronic stability program, which helps this convertible to be agile on roads by minimizing the loss of traction.
