The 50th week of the year, was full of price hike announcements as automotive biggies like Maruti Suzuki India and Hyundai Motor India join Nissan, Chevrolet and Mahindra in hiking prices in 2015. The December, however, known as stock clearing month and manufacturers offer heavy discounts for the same mean. In December, auto awards also start, and the season has been started off with prestigious ICOTY (Indian Car Of The Year), Hyundai Elite i20 bags the award this year, a 2nd in row for Hyundai.

The fuel prices continue to reduce and oil marketing companies announce a further reduction of Rs. 2 for both petrol and diesel. Another trend of vehicle recall has also been carried forward as Ford India recalls 20,000 EcoSports. Mercedes-Benz India will be launching the CLA-Class on 20th January. While Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, New Skoda Superb and Alto Kei has been revealed by their respective manufacturers. Bugatti Veyron, the fastest street legal car will be even more powerful as Bugatti is putting an electric turbocharger, which will enhance its power to 1500 bhp! Hyundai Elite i20 is the Indian Car Of The Year 2015

Hyundai Elite i20 has won the Indian Car of the Year 2015 (ICOTY) award. This is unsurprising as the Elite i20 has been receiving laurels from both critics and customers alike and the car has become the one of the best selling cars in India. Elite i20 has received over 60,000 bookings and has found 32,000 buyers within 4 months of launch. Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City had the fight going for the top honours at the 10th Indian Car of the Year awards.

2015 Maruti Ertiga Facelift Spied

Maruti is currently testing the facelifted version of the Ertiga MPV, which is likely to be launched early next year. Like the Swift, 2015 Ertiga facelift will be blessed with new added features and expect the vehicle to be slightly pricier compared to the current model. Moreover, Renault is also set to launch the Lodgy MPV early next year, so there will an added competitor for Ertiga in the fiercely growing MPV segment.

Ford India recalls over 20,000 EcoSports

Ford India has announced a voluntary recall of 20,752 units of its highest selling offering- EcoSport, to rectify an airbag issue and faulty fuel line. The affected compact-SUVs were manufactured between January 2013-September 2014, and all these aforementioned concerns will be repaired free of cost.

The Korean automaker has announced today that it will hike the prices of its entire range in the country starting from January 2015. Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) current range includes - Santro, EON, i10, Grand i10, Xcent, i20, Verna, Elantra, Santa-Fe and Sonata.

Maruti Suzuki to Hike Prices

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) will increase prices of its entire lineup from January 2015. The country’s largest automaker has the widest portfolio and will see a hike in the range of 2-4 per cent effective next month. MSI sells starting from Alto 800 which is retailed at Rs. 2.37 lac to the flagship product Grand Vitara which costs Rs. 24.6 lac (All Ex-Showroom, New Delhi).

Mercedes-Benz India to launch CLA-Class on January 20th

After introducing the performance-oriented CLA 45 AMG in July, Mercedes-Benz India is now ready to bring-in its regular version, the CLA sedan. To be launched on the 20th of next month, the entry-level luxury sedan will primarily go up against the cheapest Audi in the country, the A3 saloon.

Suzuki Releases Images of New Alto

The Japanese automaker Suzuki Motors which retails its cars with the brand name Maruti Suzuki in India, has officially released the images of new hatchback Alto Kei. The car will first be launched in Japan on December 22, 2014 and then will make its way to other parts of the world. In terms of design, the front fascia of car gets kind of retro look with flat front and trapezoidal headlights.

Petrol, Diesel Prices Reduced by Rs 2 Per Litre

As the price war between Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) and U.S & Russia shale companies has reached to a new level, the State-run oil marketing companies in India (OMCs) have revised the fuel rates by Rs 2 per litre effective from Tuesday 16th December, 2014. In the past four months, petrol prices have been reduced by eight times while from October 18th, when the government deregulated the diesel prices, it has been slashed by four times. Since August, petrol price has been cut by a cumulative Rs 12.27 per litre.
