Volkswagen India Appoints Andreas Lauermann as its New President & Managing Director

Volkswagen India has appointed Andreas Lauermann as the new President & Managing Director of Volkswagen India with effect from July 1, 2015. Mr. Lauermann will succeed Mahesh Kodumudi, who will take over new role with Volkswagen Group of America with effect from 1st June 2015. In the coming months, Kodumudi will continue to act in an Advisory Role of Volkswagen Group India.

Before joining Volkswagen AG in 1997, soon to be President Andreas Lauermann (53) started his career with TCW Tranfer Centrum for Production Logistics and Technology Management in Munich. Lauermann has a long experience of 18 years with the company where he held leading positions in Industrial Engineering with Volkswagen, Wolfsburg; Autoeuropa, Portugal and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Hannover.

In 2007, Lauermann was appointed as General Manager of the RPU Division Volkswagen Argentina in Pacheco and in 2010 he took over the lead of Central Industrial Engineering and Optimization of Indirect Areas of the Volkswagen Group. Further moving ahead in hierarchy, he took charge of the Head of Central Planning for FAW- VW in China in 2012. In 2015, Lauermann returned to Volkswagen, Wolfsburg in the Area of Central Group Production Strategy and Planning.

While Mahesh Kodumudi (49) joined the Volkswagen Group in 2008 and in the same year he was appointed Executive Director - Corporate Purchase, Volkswagen India Private Limited.
