Update: There has been a lot of revamps and upgraded versions of popular car seen at the Auto Expo 2016, but the German automaker Volkswagen brought out a new model dubbed as Volkswagen Ameo. This new car would be entering the sub-4 metre compact sedan category, a segment which already has a lot of competitors in the form of Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire and Chevrolet Sail. Made for India, Volkswagen Ameo looks beautiful and will be available in two engine options including 1.2 litre diesel 3 cylinder MPI petrol and the TDI diesel with 1.5 litre capacity. Click to read more about the VW Ameo at Auto Expo.

Volkswagen’s upcoming compact sedan has been spied once again and this time the spy-shots detail both interiors as well as exteriors of the car. The car is rumored to be named Ameo and will find its foundations in the German automaker’s PQ24 platform. Ameo will share its underpinnings with company’s Vento sedan and Polo hatchback. Even the options of power-plant will be the same as those offered on the Volkswagen Polo.

One can deduce that the upcoming compact sedan also incorporates aesthetics that are reminiscent of Vento and Polo from these pictures. The front-end of the car might feature an updated bumper, whereas the headlamps are a straight lift from its sister cars.

The rear-end of the car is where Ameo distinguishes itself from its siblings. The car flaunts a short but chunky boot, which is a result of company’s measures to have Ameo fall under the sub-4 meter compact sedan tax bracket. The overall shape of the tail-lamps is reminiscent of that seen on the Vento but might feature a refreshed cluster design.

Speaking of refreshed design, Ameo also incorporates an all-new C-pillar, which is relatively a lot more steeper than that seen on the Polo hatchback. The car will be unveiled at the upcoming Indian Auto Expo, which will be held in February.
