Upcoming Car Launches in August

The upcoming month of August has some of the most important and exciting launches lined-up. With the stable government and excise duty cut relief from budget, sentiments of mango people has improved a lot. Automaker’s are now cashing the opportunity by launching new cars and facelifts of their ongoing models. In the month of July, we witnessed launch of Honda Mobilio, Nissan Sunny facelift, Polo facelift, Mercedes Benz CLA 45 AMG, along with limited and special editions from Maruti Suzuki in Ertiga, Chevrolet Beat with Manchester United Limited Edition for Beat and Sail U-VA and Renault with second anniversary editon of Duster. In August, the main focus will be on Tata Zest while most probably Maruti too can launch the much talked Ciaz saloon in the last week. 

Fiat Punto EVO

Fiat will bring the facelift version of its hatch Punto on August 5. The updated version gets a wider front grille, chrome accents, LED tail-lamps, smart looking swept back headlights and an overall spruced up interiors. Mechanically, the car is untouched as it carries the same tried and tested engine. The petrol variants are powered by 1.2-litre gasoline engine churning a power of 67 bhp while the 1.4-litre motor develops a power of 90 bhp. The hatch is also offered with 1.3-litre diesel powertrain which develops 75 bhp of power. All engines, irrespective of petrol or diesel, will come with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Audi A3 Sedan

Audi’s most economical compact sedan, A3 will be available for Indian buyers from August 7. The car made its Indian debut in 2014 Delhi Auto Expo where it was admired by many visitors. It is expected that the ‘Four Ring’ company will place the A3 in the price range of Rs 25 to 27 lakh. The long list of luxury features include bi-xenon headlamps with day-time-running LEDs, sportier S-line body kit, retro-styled air vents and 7-inch infotainment screen that pops out of the dash. The car also features a dual-zone climate control, MMI touch and MMI navigation, rear view camera, panoramic sunroof and Milano leather upholstery. Under the hood, the car comes with an option of 1.8-litre TFSI petrol mill and 2.0-litre TDI diesel mill. The petrol engine develops a power of 177bhp and peak torque of 250Nm while the diesel engine musters a power of 143bhp and max torque of 320Nm. The engine is coupled to a six-speed dual clutch S-Tronic AT.

Tata Zest

With the official booking commenced, the homegrown manufacturer might bring its Zest sooner than expected. However, there is no official statement about the launch date, but since the company has started revamping its showrooms, we expect the automaker to launch it soon. Tata Zest embraces many segment first features such as 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, F-tronic Automated-Manual-Gearbox (AMT) with Sports mode and 1.2 liter Multi Point Fuel injected, turbocharged Revotron engine. The engine churns a power of 83bhp with maximum torque figures at 140NM. While the diesel model gets Fiat borrowed 1.3 liter MJD featuring VGT engine that develops a power of 88.8bhp (90PS) and a peak torque of 200Nm in the range of 1750-3000rpm. Zest also offers five-speed manual in diesel.

BMW X3

BMW, the luxury carmaker is also looking to launch the facelift version of its upcoming SUV X3. The front of updated X3 look similar to recently launched X5. The X3 now features bigger headlamps with optional LED headlights, redesigned front and rear bumpers, new body colors and alloy wheel designs, ORVMs with side blinkers and much more. The interiors of BMW X3 comes equipped with new leather upholstery, piano black center console, new cupholders and automatic boot opener. Powering the SUV is the 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine which churns a power of 187bhp in xDrive mode and 147bhp in sDrive mode. The engine transfers its power through a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

As per our sources, Maruti Suzuki will launch the SX4 replacement Ciaz in the last week of August or in the first week of September. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz was first showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo, but the production model will be different from what the company showcased. One thing is sure that the manufacturer will cut short the length of the car, while it may retain the projector headlamps, a second in the segment after the Hyundai Verna. While nothing on the engine department is finalled. The car is expected to carry 1.4 liter K14 VVT petrol engine which also does duty in Ertiga. This petrol engine develops a power of  93.7bhp and 130Nm of peak torque. While on the diesel front, Ciaz is expected to carry 1.3 liter MJD VGT engine developing a power of 88.8bhp with 200Nm of max torque.
