Toyota Kirloskar Motor witnesses 18% growth in domestic market

Toyota Kirloskar Motor witnessed a growth of 6% as the company retailed 13,230 units in May 2014 compared to 12,502 units in May 2013. The manufacturer also exported 1,397 units of Etios series and in the domestic market, the company sold a total of 11,833 units in May 2014 as compared to 10,023 units for the same period in last year thereby registering an 18% growth.

Toyota Corolla Altis

Mr. N Raja, Director and Senior Vice - President, Sales and Marketing said, “We have resumed normalcy in production and have registered growth in May. We launched Etios Cross and The All New Corolla Altis, last month. We have received a very good response for the new Launches and would like to thank the customers for their appreciation. We started dispatching the new models, in May. We registered sales of 555 units & 548 units of Etios Cross and Corolla Altis, respectively.”

Recently, the automaker launched its all new 11th generation Toyota Corolla Atlis with a price tag of Rs 11,99,000 for the base petrol and Rs 13,07,324 for the entry-level diesel (Ex-showroom New Delhi). The company has offered a total of nine variants which includes five petrol and four diesel variants. The vehicle features projector headlights, LED & clearance lamps and  LED taillamps cluster. While inside the cabin, Altis offers dual tone dashboard in beige and black with piano black finish. The vehicle also gets multi-functional steering wheel wrapped in black leather, cruise control and 7.0 inch touch screen infotainment system with USB, AUX-in and Bluetooth phone connectivity.

Toyota Car Engine

Mechanically, the car remains same as of its predecessor and will keep on carrying 1.8 liter dual VVT-i petrol engine or the 1.4 liter D4D diesel powertrain. The petrol engine develops a power output of 138.1bhp at 6400rpm and peak torque of 173Nm at 4000rpm, while the diesel engine musters 87.2bhp at 3800rpm and 205Nm of torque in the range of 1800-2800rpm. The petrol variants are offered with an option of two gearbox options – Super CVT-i with 7-speed Sequential Shitmatic AT along with steering mounted paddle shifters and 6-speed manual. The diesel model comes only with 6-speed manual gearbox.

Toyota Cross

In the first week of May, Toyota also launched Etios Cross at Rs 5.76 lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi). The vehicle gets some rugged features such as side cladding, diamond cut alloy wheels, roof rails, rear cladding & roof spoiler. Mechanically, Etios Cross is offered with two petrol (1.5-litre and 1.2-litre) and one diesel (1.4-litre) engine.
