Toyota Etios gives company pre-launch jitters

Toyota Etios the much awaited car to be launched in December, by the Japanese manufacturer Toyota Motors is giving the company pre launch jitters. Toyota Motors have crafted a small car for the first time especially for the Indian buyers and to enter the mini car segment market of India. Toyota car manufacturer are putting their best foot forward to establish the new compact car in India.

Yukitoshi Funo, the Executive VP and member of the board for Toyota Motors has expressed that, the success of Toyota Etios is very important for the Japanese car giant. Toyota Motors have never made a small car and don't wish to do so in future. The Toyota Etios success is also very important as it will add the market value to Toyota and spread its wings in the compact car segment.

The Toyota Etios will come in two variants sedan and hatchback models. Firstly sedan will be launched early in December and hatchback will follow it in three months. Toyota has developed the small car especially for the Indian market where pacing growth in compact cars can be seen. The sedan model will have 1.5 litre engine and hatchback will have 1.2 litre engine. The car was unveiled in 2010 Auto Expo Delhi.

As per Mr. Funo, the company is totally focusing on India for the Toyota Etios. But he did not fade away the speculations and revealed that the car may be manufactured in Brazil also.

Toyota MD Hiroshi Nakagawa of the India unit confessed that, it is a great challenge to develop a car keeping its quality and the company's reputation innate at minimum pricing. But Toyota is rejoicing at the same time to bring a car which is competent enough to beat its rivals on board. He also said that the car manufacturers are very particular about the pricing and affixing the brand with tons of features into it. Customers too are price conscious. The Indian auto markets is difficult as it needs to break the ice between the product and the consumer.

Leaving no option to cement themselves, Toyota is aggressively marketing the new car. Toyota Motors have signed musical maestro A.R. Rahman as Toyota Etios brand ambassador. It has also increased the dealerships from 82 in 2008 to 150. Toyota has invested Rs 3,200 crore which is a whooping amount and has increased the hope for the Japanese car manufacturer to establish its foot print in the compact cars. The company also plans to come with the diesel engine for Toyota Etios.

    etios look is not aggressive as compared to new gen cars.Now if they dont comeout with tempting price tag,definitely the new swift will beat it with wide spread network which is another limitation of toyota.. even after 150 more expected outlets.And so sad someone compared the look with renault.

      This is indeed a good car. But sadly Indian market is getting flooded with substandard accident prone cars like Tata Nano.
