On 60th Anniversary of D-types, Jaguar F-TYPE Project 7 comes at Le Mans Classic

Tomorrow on 4th July 2014, the F-TYPE Project 7 will make its dynamic début at Le Mans Classic to commemorate 60 glorious years of Jaguar D-type. To celebrate this achievement, F-TYPE Project 7 will run throughout the weekend alongside the very first D-type, and F-TYPE R Coupés. The Jaguar D-type racing car was launched in 1954 and in 2014 it completed 60 years.

Powered by the massive 5.0-litre, supercharged V8 petrol engine, the car musters a power output of 567bhp and peak torque of 680Nm @ 2500-5500 rpm which allows it to attain a 100kmph from standstill in mere 3.9 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 300kmph. The engine is mated to 8-speed ‘Quickshift’.

Having such high performance figures, the F-TYPE Project 7 will be Jaguar’s fastest production car to date. Build at the new state-of-the-art Technical Centre in the West Midlands, the F-TYPE Project 7 is the first Jaguar halo product from Special Operations. F-TYPE Project 7 is a fully road-legal two-seater roadster build by the Jaguar Land Rover's newly established Special Operations division.

The car is made up of all aluminium with the aerodynamic bespoke carbon-fiber. In order to make this fast car lighter in weight, the designers and engineers have used a unique suspension tune along with 80kg weight reduction technology. With the power output of 567 bhp, the F-TYPE Project 7 delivers a power packed driving experience. As the standard feature, the car carries Carbon Ceramic brakes, Torque Vectoring by Braking and race-inspired seats.

Recently, the Project 7 also marked its presence at the Goodwood's Festival of Speed. In the celebration of Jaguar D-type’s 60th anniversary, the F-TYPE Project 7 will also demonstrate laps alongside the very first D-type ever built and with the all-new F-TYPE R Coupé.

The racing is split into six grids. The F-TYPE Project 7 demonstration laps will take place ahead of qualifying and race sessions for Grid 2. Sharing the adrenaline full action will be 1988 Jaguar Le Mans winner Andy Wallace along with the Richard Meaden, Gary Pearson and Chris Harris.

F-TYPE Project 7 customer deliveries will begin from mid-2015 and will be made available in European markets besides in South Africa, Australia, MENA, Russia, Brazil, Asia Pacific regions and North America. The F-Type stable includes F-TYPE Convertible, F-TYPE S Convertible, F-TYPE V8 S Convertible, F-TYPE Coupé, F-TYPE S Coupé and F-TYPE R Coupé.
