Nissan Witnesses a Growth of 60.3 per cent in August 2014

Nissan Motor India Private Limited sold 3,999 units in August 2014. In this month, the automaker witnessed a growth of 60.3 per cent as last year for the same time period, the automaker retailed 2,494 units. In the financial year 2013, the Japanese carmaker sold 9,988 units while in the FY 2014, the automaker sold 21,596 units thereby gaining a growth of 116.2%. 

For Nissan, most of the sales came from the Terrano SUV while the hatchback Micra and new Sunny also contributed in the numbers. While recently at the Moscow International Auto Salon, the company launched the new Pathfinder range, which includes the first-ever Russian-manufactured petrol-electric hybrid. Nissan also introduced the new Nissan Juke and new Nissan GT-R NISMO at the event.

With the Sunny facelift, the automaker is doing decent business considering the fact that Honda City and Hyundai Verna are the major sales churner in the C Segment. Embracing several cosmetic changes while retaining the engine specification, Sunny facelift was introduced at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 1.5-litre petrol engine is offered with both manual and CVT transmission while the 1.5-litre diesel mill comes with a manual transmission. The ARAI certified fuel economy of diesel model is 22.7kmpl.

The interior features in-dash music system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, while the top spec model carries a 5.1-inch infotainment system with reverse parking camera as an added feature. The centre console now has a piano black finish like the one in Micra. Nissan Sunny also gets Luxury and Safety packs. The Luxury package offers leather seats, leather wrapped steering wheel while the Safety pack presents two extra side airbags. 

Despite getting some tough competition from Renault Duster, Terrano is selling in good numbers. Renault will also launch the AWD version of Duster in upcoming days, so only time will tell the real winner in compact SUV segment.
