Nissan is recalling 12,000 vehicles in India as part of a global recall. Vehicles recalled include the Nissan Micra hatchback, the Nissan Sunny sedan as well as Nissan's high end offerings viz. Teana and X-Trail.

The affected vehicles have been manufactured between June 2013 and March 2015. The vehicles are being recalled for probable problems with an engine switch as well as the airbags.

The engine switches shall be worked upon by Nissan Retailers on free of cost basis for consumers. Only a small portion of the 12000 vehicles being recalled are for a potential airbag fault. These airbags are manufactured by Takata, who have been at the centre of controversies for the past few months.

"Nissan is committed to a high level of customer safety, service, and satisfaction and is working with its dealers to promptly address this issue," the spokesperson said.
