This has been a quiet week as elections are started in different parts of the country. With the Hyundai XCent going on sale, Maruti Suzuki has ben offering discounts on its Swift DZire. Ford introduces new 1.0-litre ECOnetic Engine to be used in nex-gen Ford Figo

Ford Motors has opened a new engine plant in Camacari, Brazil situated in Ford Northeast Industrial Complex. The plant was inaugurated on April 9th and is entitled to produce all-new 3-cylinder 1.0 liter ECOnetic petrol engine. The company has already started the production of the 1.0 liter ECOnetic motor that incorporates dual-command TiVCT (Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing). The motor will be used in the nex-gen Ford KA/Figo and Figo compact sedan (displayed at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo). This engine will also power the 'Blue Ovals' upcoming compact line-ups. Read more

Honda Tapukara plant to produce new Jazz; Greater Noida to Mobilio

Honda's Noida facility will manufacture Honda Mobilio MPV, while the recently inaugrated plant in Tapukara will be making the new Honda Jazz. The company officials have declared that Mobilio will be produced in volumes of 45,000 units per annum at the Greater Noida plant. Apart from this, the company also seeks positive response from the Indian market reason being Mobilio MPV to will be the most fuel-efficient car in its category. Considerably, the new Honda MPV appears to offer a tougher competition as it will come powered by the same- 1.5-litre i-DTEC; frugal diesel engine also powers the Amaze and City, and both of these are rulers in their respective segments. Mercedes- Benz CLA to arrive by end of 2014

Mercedes-Benz India will soon come up with another luxury defining premium sedan all new Mercedes Benz CLA, by the end of this year. The new CLA will be pitted against Audi A3 and BMW 1 Series sedans in India. The new CLA will be powered by both petrol and diesel engines. The diesel version is expected to be powered by a 2.2-litre engine producing max power of 107bhp and max torque of 250Nm. It returns an impressive mileage of 20kmpl. The petrol version gets a 1.6-litre engine that churns max power of 121bhp along with top torque of 200Nm. The petrol model returns mileage of 15-16kmpl. Also, an AMG version is expected to make its debut in India, which would be powered by a 2.0-litre engine developing 360bhp and 450Nm of outputs. Read more

Fiat India getting aggressive with its products and expansion plans

Fiat India seem to be learning better market strategies, thereby striving hard to get hold of Indian auto sector. The Italian carmaker is all-set to launch three new vehicles this year in the country. The upcoming list of cars includes Fiat Avventura, Fiat Abarth 500 and Fiat Punto facelift. The brand in particular has not been able to show substantial growth pertaining to the fierce competition already existing in this market. Standing against brands like Maruti, Hyundai and Honda, is certainly not a cake walk for any brand to gain its share of market. Audi teases Q4 Concept ahead of 2014 Beijing Motor Show

Honda India considering Gujarat for its third manufacturing plant

Honda Cars India is soon planning to expand with its third manufacturing plant, and as per the reports generated, the company is considering Gujarat for the same. The reports further quotes that the company is showing interest in a 250 acre land parcel in Vithalapur. The site is close to Gujarat's industrial areas like Sanand and Hansalpur, the same place where Maruti Suzuki is set to come. This is further followed by two-wheeler maker Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), that too bought a plot to set up a facility near Ahmedabad. The 200 acres of land costs around Rs 15-20 lakh an acre to HMSI. Read more
