From September there will a number of changes for the E-Class range, including the introduction of the new 9G-Tronic gearbox, new standard equipment, more power and lower emissions.  Mercedes-Benz developed the 9G-Tronic gearbox in-house and will be twined with the E 350 BlueTEC engine that is sold in European and North American markets. Even the power of the E-Class has also been increased to a total of 258 hp seeing a bump of 6bhp.

At the same time the E 220 BlueTEC will see an increase in power to 177bhp has too seen a hike of 7bhp whilst still being paired with the 7G-Tronic transmission.  Capacity of the E 400 AMG Sport will be known moving forward as the E 400 AMG Line and capacity of the V6 will increase for both to 3,498 cc. The E 400 Cabriolet will make its debut in India sometime by the end of 2014 or the start of 2015.

Collision Prevention Assist Plus will be fitted as standard to every E-Class to reduce the impact of rear-end collisions.  The adaptive brake boosting effect and activation of Pre-Safe® take place when the driver applies the brake.

At the moment, the Indian market only has the E200 CGI and E250 CDI. The V6 engine variants are due to be launched soon, however the E 350 BlueTec gets the Ad-Blue technology, which makes it a complete no for our market as we haven’t reached that stage of emissions. The Indian car market will however get the E 400 Cabriolet soon. It has come to ARAI for homologation and this vehicle will be a complete body unit as an import, the market at the moment isn’t that good for CKD at least for convertibles. The next vehicle from the Mercedes-Benz line-up is the GLA-Class.
