Mayank Pareek to head Tata Motors from next month

Home grown auto major Tata Motors has appointment Mr. Mayank Pareek as their President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit (PVBU). He will be taking over the position from 1st October, 2014 and will replace Mr. Ranjit Yadav, who will now head the International Business for Passenger & Commercial vehicles. Apart from heading the passenger vehicle business for Tata, he will also be a member of the Corporate Steering Committee.

According to the company, “His extensive experience in the passenger car market will play a significant role in harnessing Tata Motors growth potential to help position the company as one of the leading passenger car manufacturers in India.”

Before joining Tata, Pareek headed India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) for about two decades. In MSIL, he was the Chief Operating Officer, wherein he was heading the Marketing & Sales vertical that included Domestic Marketing and Sales, Dealer Development, Product Development, Used Car Business, Outbound Logistics, Spare Parts and Accessories, After Market Services and International Marketing & Sales. Not only this, he was also the member of MSIL Management Committee, and a permanent invitee to the MSIL Board. Post his resignation, MSIL's veteran RS Kalsi has been handed over the responsibilities of heading the passenger vehicle division for the company.

Pareek commenced his career in 1982 with BHEL, and worked in the manufacturing function and joined Maruti Udyog in 1991. Initially, he was responsible for sales in the North region and subsequently managed dealer development. For these two decades, Pareek had been the main face for the MSIL.
