Mayank Pareek Rumored to have Quit Maruti Suzuki

As per the rumours afloat, Mayank Pareek, Head of Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki has quit the company after serving for twenty years. It is also speculated that he will join Tata Motors, the company which is in search for capable Managing Director after the early demise of Karl Slym.

Mayank Pareek first joined India’s largest passenger car maker Maruti Suzuki in 1991 after completing engineering from IIT from BHU. He completed MBA from IIM Bangalore. At Maruti Suzuki, he was instrumental in maintaining automaker’s leadership position in the fiercely competitive domestic passenger vehicle segment. In the last five months, Maruti’s sales have grown upto 30 per cent when the whole auto industry was seeing the growth of 12.5 per cent.

In 2014, Pareek’s departure is the second senior level exit at the company after Sudam Maitra’s resignation who was in-charge of supply chain. Apart from Sudam Maitra, M M Singh, Chief Operating Officer (COO) production, S Y Siddiqui COO, HR and Administration were some of the top-level exists from the company.

“I cannot confirm for sure but I am told he put in his papers on Monday evening,” a senior executive at Maruti said to a leading newspaper.

It is expected that Mayank’s place as the head of marketing and sales will be filled by Shashank Srivastava, who is currently handling the charge of executive officer for exports. Mayank’s exit comes just weeks before company's upcoming car Ciaz which is slated for launch on October 10, 2014. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is SX4 replacement and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 7.5 to Rs 10.5 lakh.
