Maruti Suzuki India is gearing up for the upcoming 2014 Indian Auto Expo, where the company aims to unveil several new cars and new engine technology. We studied that the country's largest carmaker will unveil at least three new cars at the grand event. We earlier reported that Maruti will present the all-new SX4, which will replace the current generation SX4, at the Expo. Moreover, the company is likely to display a compact SUV and an all-new hatchback, which will come as the replacement for the A-Star and Estilo in India.

Maruti XA Alpha

Maruti that unveiled the XA Alpha compact SUV Concept at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo, is likely to be converted into a production version, and will make its way to the next year's Expo. The exact engine details for the vehicle is still behind curtains, but we expect it to get the same 1.3-litre multijet engine, that also does duty to the Ertiga MPV. The petrol version is likely to feature a 1.6-litre engine that develops 103bhp and 145Nm of top torque. The company might also introduce the compact SUV with a 1.4-litre K2 petrol mill.

Maruti Suzuki A Star Alto

Maruti Suzuki India is also planning to replace the current generation A-Star and Estilo with an all-new compact hatchback, which has been spotted a couple of times in India. The compact hatch will have a larger wheelbase to offer more legroom space for both front and rear passengers, while its taller body makes the interior more spacious and airy. The vehicle is expected to retain the interior components, but the build quality of the cabin is better than the current model. The exact engine configuration for the next generation A-Star is yet to be disclosed, but we expect it to be powered by the same 1.0-litre K Series petrol engine. Maruti is also working on a small 800cc turbo-diesel engine, which is expected to power the next A-Star in India.

Maruti Suzuki SX4

The new sedan (codenamed YL1) will replace the current generation SX4 in India. The vehicle has been spotted testing quite a number of time in India, and it will be unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The company is also expected to launch the vehicle soon after the Expo or by the end of the first quarter of 2014. Based on the Maruti Ertiga platform, the vehicle is expected to take its design inspiration from the concept, Suzuki Authentics that the company previewed at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. The YL1 sedan will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options - a 1.4-litre K2 petrol engine and a 1.3-litre DDis diesel motor.

This is all what we have for now, stay tuned to CarDekho for more updates on the same.
