Maruti Suzuki India has launched a limited edition version of its blue eyed tall boy hatch Wagon R, christened as Wagon R Pro. The new limited edition variant PRO has been introduced with a price tag of Rs.4.45 lakh. Maruti Wagon Pro is different from its sibling with as it comes with both cosmetic changes plus a few additional features. On the exterior level the car what’s new in Wagon R PRO is the body graphics, rear spoiler, wheel cover design, body rub rails, bumper rub rails at the front and the rear end. In the cabin area Maruti has adorned this limited edition with USB Double-Din audio system 16 cm 4 way speakers, beige floor mats, beige and black seat covers plus a new car perfume.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R PRO costs Rs.20,000 more than the standard variants of the hatch. However, the accessories offered with the car, when purchased at dealerships will cost you Rs 30,000, translating into Wagon R Pro is offering the same accessories at a Rs.10,000 discount. This move from the Japanese auto major is aimed to attract sales for the petrol version as the Indian car market has turned biased towards the diesel powered cars; This tilt towards the diesel cars forces auto manufacturers to sell their power based cars with some discounts or freebies or even lure the potential consumer with special editions.
Maruti Wagon R at present in its third avatar in terms of designing and second in terms of model as the all new model was launched just a year ago. Maruti is also planning to bring in a facelift version of this car which is due a few months from now; the facelift version might see the sought-after 1.0L diesel engine as its arch rival Hyundai i10 is expected to come with a frugal diesel powertrain by late 2013. The facelift version is expected to roll out in the first quarter of 2013.
