Maruti Suzuki Ciaz takes on City, Verna, Fiesta, Linea, Sunny

Is it a Suzuki? Ciaz appears to be a fresh face among the usually Suzuki's. Like the in-trend of a family design concept, Suzuki does not have a design language but you can somehow relate them. But in the case of Ciaz, apart from the unmistakably Suzuki grille you cannot guess it's a Suzuki, especially from rear. Moreover, seeing the Maruti Suzuki's past failed attempts in the premium space with product like the Kizashi and the Grand Vitara, Ciaz seems to be a ray of hope for Maruti, which has an image of economical carmaker.

Ciaz is entering into a segment which has been recently spruced up – 2014 was greeted with an all-new Honda City (sales king!) later Verna getting an update (adding more to long list of segment first features!). Ford Fiesta also received a facelift (that face is to die for!) so do the Fiat Linea (timeless design!) and Nissan Sunny (acres of space!). Apart from this, from the VW umbrella - VW Vento and Skoda Rapid are aging and their facelifts are expected soon. So we are keeping them aside though the Vento 1.2 TSI is a powerhouse!

Safety

On the safety front, except for the base V trim Ciaz packs ABS and EBD along with the Driver airbags while the Z trims get co-passenger airbags adding to dual-front airbags. City offers standard driver airbags, ABS with EBD while top variants comes with dual-SRS airbags. Verna offers no standard safety add-ons, the top-end trims get all-around disc braking, 6-airbags, ABS with EBD. The Fiesta offers ABS with EBD and driver's airbag as standard across all the variants, while it offers dual front airbags in top two variants. Fiat Linea also comes with standard ABS while all-around disc braking and dual front airbags add on the top-trims. Lastly, new Sunny also features driver-side airbag with ABS and EBD as standard while top trims add dual-front airbags.
