In terms of monthly sales, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz beats the segment leader Honda City as the automaker retails 6,345 units of Ciaz compared to 5,120 units of City in October. Though it may be too soon to say, but seeing the current sales figure and response Ciaz is getting, Maruti Suzuki might have found the nerve of Indian customers as for the past several years the company has failed to mark its name in sedan segment. First it was Baleno and then SX4, both of which failed to clock some serious numbers for which MSIL is known for.

Ciaz was launched in October at Rs 6.99 lac and since then the company has received an advance booking of 17,000 units. Honda City on the other hand is slightly costlier as the base variant is priced at 7,19,900. Even the top variant of Maruti Suzuki ZDI (O) is priced at 9.80 lac is way cheaper than City’s top VXMT variant which costs 11,05,500. All prices EX-Showroom, Delhi.

Ciaz is also the most fuel efficient sedan as it delivers a mileage of 26.21kmpl while that of City is 26kmpl. Maruti Suzuki is powered by 1.4-litre K Series petrol and 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine. The petrol model churns a max power of 91bhp and peak torque of 130Nm while the for diesel model its 89bhp and 200Nm of torque. Moreover, Honda City gets 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and 1.5-lite i-DTEC diesel engine. The petrol model chucks out 117bhp and 145Nm of max torque while the diesel model churns 98.8bhp and max torque of 200Nm.
