Even after 12 days the workers strike at the Maruti Manesar plant has not yielded any conclusive outcome so far. The various efforts from Haryana Government to bring a solution to the impasse pacifying both the parties remained unfruitful. The current strike at the Manesar plant began on October 7th, after the workers demanded to reinstate 1,200 contract workers at MSI plant. The labour unrest has spread to its sister concerns including Suzuki Powertrain India Ltd (SPIL) and Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL).

Shiv Kumar, the General Secretary of Maruti Suzuki India’s yet to be recognised union, Maruti Suzuki Employee Union (MSEU) had informed that the recent talks held today between the worker representatives and the management were not conclusive. The production at the Maruti Manesar plant had partially resumed yesterday after two-day production halt at the plants due to the lack of component supply from SPIL. 180 workers, who did not take part in the strike had commenced the operations at the Manesar plant. However, the MSI’s Gurgaon plant was reported to reach normalcy. 1,700 units were known to be rolled out from the Gurgaon plant. According to the latest reports, 400 workers are said to resume duty to promote the production activities at the plant. Apparently, the production of Maruti Suzuki India’s flagship model Maruti Swift has started today.
