Maruti R3 to trigger a price war

The multipurpose vehicle market is right now flooding with numerous cars. Earlier, it was Toyota Innova, which became the most salable in this segment, but now Maruti India is all geared up to boost up the MPV price battle. Maruti India will soon launch a brand new MPV, Maruti R3, which is expected to beat Toyota Innova. If reports are to be believed, the new Maruti R3 will come within the price range of Rs. 6 Lakh only. However, Toyota Innova comes with a price tag of around, Rs. 8,60,527.

However, there hasn’t been any official announcement as when Maruti R3 will be released, but it is expected that Maruti R3 will hit the Indian roads by 2012. The new Maruti R3 is expected to be based on Maruti Ritz’s platform, which will run on 1.3 litre of diesel and 1.5 litre of petrol engine. Even the pricing details have not been finalized yet, but it will be within Rs. 6 Lakh.

On the other hand, Toyota knows that Maruti India is all geared to give a tough competition, so therefore, it might be possible that Toyota decided to give a makeover to Toyota Innova. The new and enhanced Toyota Innova is expected to hit the Indian roads in 2012. Toyota India sadly saw a tumble of 15% in the sales of Toyota Innova between the months of April to June, where it sold only 11,090 units instead of 13,034 units in 2010 in the same time frame. As per the deputy MD of Toyota India, Mr. Sandeep Singh, the firm is all set to amplify the Toyota Innova’s production from 4000 to 4800 units every month now.

Japanese car manufacturer, Nissan is also planning to launch a new MPV, known as Nissan NV200 in alliance with Ashok Leyland in the year of 2012. So therefore, one thing is for sure, that Maruti India’s MPV, Maruti R3 will surely sky rocket the price battle in this segment as it is rumored to be priced within Rs. 6 Lakh only.Some of the other prominent Maruti car models comprise of Maruti Alto, Maruti Swift, Maruti Swift Dzire, Maruti SX4, Maruti Kizashi, Maruti Wagon R and many more.
