Just like India, the sales of the Ciaz will soon be commenced in China (called as Alivio). In India it will be launched early next month. The Alivio has been spotted completely inside-out in China; the spotted car seems to be the top-end variant. The spy shots reveal that the vehicle gets just the right amount of chrome and gets a nice looking dash & generous amount of rear leg room!

Spy shots from India and even the one from China reveal that the car looks premium both inside-out compared to the SX4. Speaking in the context, the multi-spoke alloys (probably be 16-inch on the top-end), projector headlamps, chrome accents around front and rear fog lamps are likely to be on-board in the Indian top-end trim. On the inside, the sedan features a dual-tone black and beige interiors featuring touch-screen infotainment, rear AC vents while the chrome treatment continues inside too. Looks like Maruti is focusing on the rear seat comfort, the leg room seems to be generous while the rear vents add to better cooling.

Moreover, Maruti has already started the production of the Ciaz and reportedly company has produced close to 1000 units of the car as of now. Seeing the anticipation the sedan has created since the glitzy concept company showcased at the Expo, seems company is ramping-up the production for easy availability; though expect a modest demand for the sedan!

Mechanically, the upcoming Ciaz is likely to be powered by the Ertiga borrowed engines. The diesel trims will be powered by the 1.3L Fiat Multijet borrowed DDiS turbo diesel engine. The engine gathers 88.8bhp (90PS) and 200Nm of max torque; most probably this engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. On the petrol front, it gets 1.4L K14 naturally aspirated petrol producing 93.5bhp (95PS) and 130Nm of peak torque. We can expect a CVT automatic mated with this engine along with the manual. Expect modest fuel efficiency figures from both the trims, although the official figures will come on the launch date.
