Renault is known for creating the hottest segment in the country of compact SUVs when it brought the capable Duster. The french automaker is also popular for the ‘Escape’ MPV, which is currently in its fifth generation and is often touted as the world’s first MPV. Now the automaker is forging into the MPV arena in India with Lodgy very soon, though they are lil’ late but the product seems pretty competitive compared to what we are having right now in the country. Lets see, what makes Lodgy a logical vehicle?

Size

Lodgy is humongous, by that I mean literally- with a wheelbase of 2810 mm which is more than the Toyota Innova’s 2750 mm, Ertiga’s 2740 mm and even Mobilio’s 2652 mm. Furthermore, seeing its European counterpart, space inside the cabin will definitely be one of the best in its segment.

Features

On the feature list, Lodgy sports a touch screen infotainment system which also possesses a built-in satellite navigation. Apart from this, features will be similar to that of the 2015 Duster, from which its also shares its dashboard and instrumentation cluster.

Engines

Though its not clear yet that whether the Lodgy will get a petrol powertrain or not but it is getting the 1.5-liter K9K turbo diesel from Duster. The diesel will be available in both 110PS and 85PS tunes, mated to 5-speed (85PS) and 6-speed (110PS) manual transmissions. This said, Renault Lodgy 110PS version will certainly be the powerful MPV in its space with 108 bhp of max power and 248 Nm peak of torque on tap!

Lodgy Stepway

The Stepway is basically a crossover version of the Lodgy, it made its global revealing couple of days ahead of the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Moreover, getting a ‘Cross’ version of any vehicle is the new thing in the country and Lodgy Stepway will be the first of its kind cross-MPV in India when launched.

Renault Lodgy Stepway will be the country’s first cross-MPV

Adding more on the Stepway version, in Europe it offers all black interiors with highlighting accents compared to the Lodgy’s dual tone interiors, expect the same for India. Speaking of the exterior changes, the Stepway version gets all-around body cladding and satin chrome inserts on the bumpers. It will be the top-end version of the Lodgy MPV range.
