Though the plans for Jeep to enter the Indian market in 2013 were postponed due to various reasons, looks like the brand is planning to make a grand entry. If reports are to be believed, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) will be launching the Jeep brand in India in 2015 with 15 dealerships by the end of this year and the number is expected to double by 2016. To start with, Jeep will have two products, Grand Cherokee and Wrangler, brought in as CBUs.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is being offered in three engine options globally - a 5.7-litre V8 petrol engine, 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine and a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine. The power and torque outputs are 360 hp/530 Nm, 290 hp/350 Nm and 240 hp/570 Nm respectively. All the engines are mated to a eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Jeep Wrangler is available in only one engine option, a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine with a maximum power of 285 hp and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. The engine is available either with a 5-speed automatic version or a 6-speed manual gearbox.

FCA is also planning to launch an all-new SUV in 2017 that will be manufactured in India and exported for global markets. Watch this space for more information.
