India bound VW Up to be unveiled in August

The luxury car brand Volkswagen is engaged yet again with another impending launch of Volkswagen Up next year; however, this compact hatchback is scheduled to be unveiled in August, this year in the emerging car markets including India and China. This is to mark the introduction of the Volkswagen Up, as the German brand’s cheapest small car till date from the Volkswagen’s usual top-of-the-line product portfolio. The Volkswagen Up is planned to be launched in a ceremony held at the Paris Grand Palais at Champs-Elysees in Paris. The Volkswagen Up price is likely to be placed around Rs 3 - 5 lakhs, making it available within the reach of the Indian commoners.

Volkswagen, has enormous plans laid out for this compact hatchback, with an annual production targeting 240,000 vehicles by 2012. Identifying the demand for the small car segment in the Indian car market, the Volkswagen India has come down strongly on this point to prove that they are not behind by any means in the small car manufacturing posing a threat to the ace players in this segment, the Maruti Suzuki India and Ford Motors India.

The Volkswagen Up had been launched way back in 2007 at the Frankfurt Auto show in Germany and now making its stupendous entry in the Indian car market.
