Hyundai introduced its all-new seventh-generation 2015 Sonata at the 2014 New York International Auto Show. Following the incredible success of the outgoing Sonata globally, the all-new generation offers a subtle look through a new Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. Hyundai claims that the new Sonata has a stiffer body structure, better ride quality, reduced noise, vibration and harshness and advanced safety and convenience features. This new Sonata will be going on sale in the American and European markets by this spring and we can expect it come to India by the early 2015.

Sonata's design matures for the 2015 model year with energetic and crisp lines complimented by smooth and subtle surfaces. Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 is a confident evolution of the original fluidic sculpture design language that perfectly expresses Sonata's premium look and excellent value. Shoppers looking for a traditional design will appreciate the 2015 Sonata's exterior styling that includes standard LED daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, a rear lip spoiler and chrome surround for the day light opening. Sonata Limited adds rocker panel extensions and dual exhaust for a premium look.

The interiors of the Sonata have been redone as well. The new Sonata will come with a 2.4-litre Theta II GDI, which is a four-cylinder engine that will power 185bhp and atleast the American market will get the 2.0-litre turbo petrol that will produce 245bhp. These engines were designed by Global Engine Alliance, which was a joint venture between Chrysler, Mitsubishi and Hyundai. Chrysler did buy out the other two’s stakes in this company, but the Japanese and Korean manufacturers have retained the rights to manufacture these engines.

The Sonata with this turbo engine will come mated to a six-speed SHIFTRONIC automatic transmission and will also have paddle shifts. We hope Hyundai gets a diesel and the 2.0-litre turbo petrol for India, on the new Sonata.
