Hyundai sells 46,505 units in Feb, 2014, exports down by 39.5%

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country’s second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter registered the domestic sales of 34,005 units and exports of 12,500 units with cumulative sales of 46,505 units for the month of February 2014. When compared with figures of 2013, there is fall of nearly 39.5% in terms of Export along with a negative growth of 14.9% in Cumulative sales.

Commenting on the February sales Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. VP- Sales and Marketing, HMIL said, "Post the reduction in excise duty, enquiry inflow has increased with February sales of 34,005 units with a growth of 2% over the earlier month and it is expected that this would lead towards creation of a positive momentum."

Moreover, in the upcoming month, the manufacturer will launch its compact sedan Xcent which will compete against the likes of Honda Amaze and Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire. The car is already been showcased at the recently concluded 2014 Auto Expo. The car is based on Grand i10 hatch and features similar interior features such as first in class rear A/C vents, Smart key with push start button. The engine specification remains same as of Grand i10 hatch. The 1.1 litre CRDi diesel along with a 1.2 litre Kappa Dual VTVT petrol engine.
