Hyundai India is one of the most celebrated automobile brands in India and now they are striving to be at an even better position. The entire automobile town is waiting for Hyundai to introduce their entire diesel line up in India. Whether this is because of the instable petrol prices or whether it is because of the growing popularity of diesel engines due to their mileage, coming in of these engines would mean a tough competition to the nation’s favorite manufacturer, Maruti. Maruti India and Hyundai always see eye to eye and with Hyundai’s diesel line up, the competition is sure to heat up further.

These plans have been under consideration for quite some time. The production of diesel engines is expected to start once Hyundai’s diesel factory is set up and starts functioning. Arvind Saxena, director (marketing and sales), Hyundai Motor India said one of the major reasons for the delay is the uncertainty regarding the increases in taxes on diesel vehicles that the Government of India is speculating. Hyundai has been planning this plant since 2010 but earlier as well they were delayed because of the slump in the automobile industry. One of the most awaited diesel variant would be the 1.1-litre diesel engine Hyundai i10, which is one of the most favorite in Europe. At the same time, their competitor Maruti uses a 1.3-litre engine for the popular models like Ritz, Swift, Ertiga etc.
