Hyundai Elite i20 launch on Monday

Hyundai India will launch its new Elite i20 hatch on August 11, 2014. Based on Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0, the car embraces a redesigned exterior profile and an entire new interior. Dealers have started taking bookings with an upfront payment of Rs 25,000. Earlier it was believed that the automaker will continue with the ongoing model and the Elite i20 will be sold separately just like the case with i10 and Grand i10, but now its confirmed that the Elite i20 will replace the ongoing i20. We talked to Hyundai dealers throughout the country and as per the reports available, the top end variants of Elite i20 will be at least Rs 20,000 to 30,000 dearer than the ongoing model. The car gets its new avatar designed at Hyundai Motor's Design in Russelsheim, Germany.

The front facia of Elite i20 gets a new hexagonal air dam, redesigned headlamps, and boomerang shaped rear taillamps. The car rides on 15-inch wheels while the top of the line spec get 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The interior features entirely new dashboard but continues with black and beige theme with silver accents. Other features include steering mounted controls, upgraded audio system with a larger screen and an advanced automatic climate control along with a rear AC vent and Push button start.

For enhancing the safety of the car, Hyundai is offering Elite i20 with Antilock braking system (ABS), Electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), four airbags and reverse parking camera.
Mechanically, the car remains unchanged and will continue housing a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol which develops a power of 83bhp  and is mated to five speed manual transmission while the four speed automatic variant gets Gamma 1.4 VTVT engine which does duty in producing 98.6bhp. The fuel efficient UII 1.4-litre diesel engine gets six speed manual transmission and produces a maximum power of 88.8bhp.
