Hyundai Domestic Sales up by 5.9%

HMIL- Hyundai Motor India Ltd. registered a growth of 5.9% for domestic sales in the month of August 2012. The sales included 28,257 units as compared to 26,677 units that the company had achieved August last year. The Elantra recorded a sale of 608 units whereas 19 units were sold for Sonata. The small car line-up of Hyundai- Eon, Santro, i10 and i20, had a cumulative sale of 40,049 units in the month of August. 6,145 units were sold in the A3 segment which includes the Accent and Verna and 65 units if the Santa Fe were sold in the SUV segment.

The cumulative sales including domestic sales and exports have been at a negative 8% with 46,886 units this year as compared to 51,012 of August last year. Vice President, National Sales, HMIL, Rakesh Srivastava said that the launch of the neo Elantra enhanced and strengthened the sale performance in the premium segment. He further said that the overall market demand has been suppressed due to general inflationary trends, high fuel prices and interest rates.

Hyundai has been in news recently because of the Hyundai i10 spy pictures which confirmed that the facelift of hatchback is going to come to India as well.
