Honda Shifts Production of City to Tapukara, Rajasthan; To Meet Rising Demand!

Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) has halted the production of its highest selling car - City for this month to shift its production from Greater Noida plant to the newly opened facility in Tapukara Alwar, Rajasthan. After the commencement of Mobilio's production at the Greater Noida plant, City is shifted to newer facility to cater the current and future demands of both the vehicles.

“The shift of City production to Tapukara will ensure better availability and timely deliveries of Honda City and the newly launched Mobilio. We have received an overwhelming response to both the City and the Mobilio, and it is necessary to maximize production at both the plants for the benefit of the customer,” commenting on the City's production shift to Tapukara, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales Honda Cars India

New Tapukara plant

Amaze is already in production at the Tapukara plant since its inauguration this February. The plant has a capacity of 1,20,000 units /annum and is currently operating in single shifts only. Moreover, seeing the current demand of the Mobilio which has crossed over 10,000 booking since its launch on 23rd July. Furthermore, City is growing months after months with a sales of over 7000 units monthly. To meet the growing demands the company made the following amends. Honda has sold 53,605 units of the new City in between January – July 2014.

Honda's new plant measures in 450 acres and incorporates high levels of automation and the manufacturing unit includes welding, forging, plastic moulding, press and paint shops; it also includes frame assembly and engine assembly & testing.
