Japanese auto giant, Honda, is in full action at its Tapukara plant, in Rajasthan, as it is producing soon to be launched premium hatchback Jazz. It is believed that the produced batch of Jazz at Tapukara will be shipped to South Africa, as the snaps show the car is being loaded into trucks. Though there is no word from Honda about its Indian launch, globally it will be launched in the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

This new offering is going to bring the heat to the premium segment champs in India as it will be coming with a diesel motor and a handsome tag of (around INR 5.5 to 8 lacs), unlike the price before that made us think it was a sedan or an SUV. The likes of Hyundai Elite i20, VW Polo and to some extent MS Swift sales will be influenced by Jazz.

Previous generation of Jazz might have failed but it was a great car, be it its revolutionary design, the way it handled, its upmarket interiors and the space it offered. Price was a drawback and the lack of diesel motor worsened its situation and were among the main reasons for its fall.

On the bright side, company has learnt a lot, especially from the success of Amaze that sported a diesel engine for the first time in history of Honda India, followed by the ever popular City and the most recent Mobilio. All these cars have enjoyed great success and keeping this formula in mind, Honda is planning a lot for India like CR-V and Accord in the same fuel trim that may follow shortly.

Speaking of new Jazz, it looks great with that face it draws from its predecessor, though a bit sharper, it is aptly compatible with current times. The car sports newly carved front bumper, raked bonnet and A-pillars. Sides feature sharp shoulder line running towards the rear and slowly rising and witnessing a ridge at the bottom. Moving rearward one will be equally impressed by the compact taillamps and a stylish tail gate.

Insides are driver centric with the central console angled towards the driver. While powering this premium hatch will be two motors, probably the 86.8 bhp 1.2 litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5 liter 98.6 bhp EarthDream diesel.
