Honda Brio Prototype unveiled at the 27th Thailand International Motor Expo

Honda Brio was unveiled today (30th November, 2010) at the Thailand International Motor Expo. The Honda's new wonder will be hitting the Asian auto market especially Indian and Thailand markets by 2011. The compact car from Honda's pavilion has been specially crafted for Asia.

Honda Brio model has been made with upgraded technology and with the Honda's concept of “man maximum, machine minimum”. The compact car is easy to handle vehicle in the city areas which measures 3,610mm length, 1,680 mm width and 1,475 mm height with well fitted interiors and extremely roomy cabin space. Honda Brio is a great style wagon.

Honda Brio is made to capture the accelerating the demand for the small cars in the new emerging markets. Honda has made the small car which has distinctive features for the Indian and Thailand markets as per the needs and conditions. With this new car Honda will use the sources of its two wheeler business and will use the localized components like sheet steel.

Honda Brio Indian version will be launched in 2011, to cater to the ever increasing small car market. The car will use the localized components which will reduce the pricing of the car. The Thai version of the compact car will be launched by March 2011, which will churn the fuel efficiency of around 100 km/5 litres*2, this will keep the car within the guidelines set by the government for the eco friendly cars. The car in Thailand is expected to be priced around 400,000 baht.

Takanobu Ito, the CEO and President of the Honda Motors, said that, Honda Brio the compact car is technologically advanced and highly fuel efficient car. The car has been made with the experience the company had in its two wheeler segment in Asia. The company will cater the Indian, Thailand and Asian markets and ensures the car to be customer friendly.

The Honda's first production facility was started with Rs 450 crore investment in UP Greater Noida in the year 1997. Currently the company has invested Rs 1620 crores in the domestic market. The company has the capacity to manufacture 100,000 units annually. Honda's second production unit in Rajasthan Tapukara. It is a huge manufacturing unit spread in 600 acres of land with a manufacturing capacity of 60,000 cars every year. The plant was started with an investment of almost Rs 1,000 crore and the first phase of the facility was started in 2008 September.
