Hero cars in India: Hero and Proton to tie-up for small car

India's leading two-wheeler maker, Hero, will tie-up with Malaysian car manufacturer Proton Holding to produce small car in India. According to news reports, both the companies are in final stages of alliance for the compact car in India. This ambitious join venture might take shape by the end of the year. A source close to Malaysian High Commission office in New Delhi informed that a high-level Proton delegation likely to visit India by the end of this month along with Datuk Mustapha Mohammad, Malaysia’s minister of international trade and industry, he added.

Hero Group's spokesperson also confirmed the news that both the companies are negotiating with each other. Proton is in a hurry to partner with some company in India for the growing car industry in India and it had spoke to many Indian firms in India for the same. Similarly, Hero Group has visited Proton's major plants outside India. Proton is likely to launch its flagship 1.3 litre Saga sedan in India. 1.2 litre 5-door small car Savvy and 1.6 litre car Persona is also in the list for India launch. On the other hand, Tata Manza and Chevrolet Cruze is going to launch in India on 14 and 12th of October, respectively.
