Its been over a month that situation has reached near normalcy at Maruti Suzuki India. But even now parliament seems to be abuzz with discussions on the Maruti India issue. Apparently, few still find the fault to be rather on the Maruti Suzuki India’s management side. It was two leaders from CPI and BJP who raised the issue at hand in Lok Sabha. The reply has come straight from the horse’s mouth, the Labour and Employment minister Mallikharjun Kharge who has ironed out any miscommunication. He had been outright in stating that it was Maruti Suzuki India who has acted on a mere whim when the workers were ready to resume the operations at plant.

The ‘good conduct bond’ endorsed by the management does not fall in lines with the Industry Disputes Act according to the minister. Though not in as many words, but the Labour Minister was pretty clear on what he was saying. Workers at MSI were definitely responsible for sabotaging the operations at the MSI Manesar plant not just for once, but three times. Back on August 29th workers called for an immediate strike when the management asked the workers to sign a good conduct bond. The bond is basically a written agreement asking the workers to avoid causing any trouble at work and stick to the company’s rules to carry out the operations. However, the workers have taken an aggressive stand to this.

The dispute was carried out as if the entire house was on fire. The situation went totally out of control and spread to the MSI’s sister concerns including Suzuki Powertrain India Ltd. The shortage of components supply has restricted the three MSI plants in Manesar and Gurgaon to roll out its flagship models including Maruti Swift, Maruti SX4 and Maruti Alto. However after a fortnight long strike which ended on October 19th and all the MSI plants reaching full-swing of products, things have started looking bright after all.
