General Motors India has sold 8005 vehicles in the month of April 2012. The April sales comprised of 4586 units of Chevrolet Beat, 1953 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 821 units of Chevrolet Spark, 455 units of Chevrolet Cruze, 140 units of Chevrolet Aveo, 28 units of Chevrolet Optra and 22 units of Chevrolet Captiva. Commenting on the performance, Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President, General Motors India, said “The sales were not on the expected lines as uncertainty in fuel prices, hike in excise duty, and hike in local taxes in some states continue to put a lot of pressure on the automobile market.
Also, a lot of purchases were advanced by customers in February and March fearing duty hikes in the Union Budget. With the RBI going for CRR cut to improve market liquidity and reducing repo rates by 50 basis points, we expect the market to improve in the coming months.”
