Ford India is on a joy ride, the company sold 11,805 units in the month of March including domestic wholesales and exports. The American automaker has recorded an increase of 57 percent - last year the manufacturer sold 7,499 units in the same month. The major helping force is the excise duty cut and not to forget the success of EcoSport – the 'Urban SUV' took home 30 coveted awards (18 Car or SUV of the Year award) - repeating the succes of Figo. EcoSport broke Figo's record of being India's most awarded car ever in Limca Book of Records 2012. EcoSport comes with internationally acclaimed 1.0 EcoBoost engine ( two times international engine of the year 2012 – 2013) and SYNC® technologies. The domestic sales in March stood at 6,356 vehicles compared to 5,271 units last year same month.

“Cautious is how we should define the first quarter of 2014. The excise duty reduction has definitely been a positive step. As India gets set to vote, we look forward to such industry-friendly initiatives being sustained to support the important automotive sector,” said Vinay Piparsania, executive director of Marketing, Sales and Service at Ford India. There's a new plant coming in the Sanand, Gujarat, projected majorly to increase engine production plus to meet domestic and export vehicle demand. New vehicles are in pipeline for the company to be launch under the Ford's 'One Ford' promise.

The Export also rose from 2,228 units last year in the month of march to 5,449 vehicles this year. “Ford is confident of playing a significant part in the next phase of growth in India’s automotive industry,” Piparsania said. “We are thrilled with the response to our vehicles. As a mark of growing favourability amongst customers, it is a matter of pride to see a Ford vehicle become India’s Most Awarded Vehicle Ever yet again”, he added.
