Fiat plans to get grip of the Indian market by locally manufacturing Chrysler models in India. We can expect these models to arrive by 2016. However, the company is yet to finalise over which models would be locally manufactured, but the ones to launch initially will arrive as Compltely Built Units (CBUs), and later localised. As far as Indian market is concerned, it appears that the company is considerably taking it as an experimental work first-up, and then watch the performance graph of these vehicles in India.

Strategically decided upon, the Fiat Group Automobiles India (FGAIPL)- wholly owned subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, has already announced the launch of nine vehicles by 2016. Out of these, five will come under Fiat brand, and rest including, Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee by Chrysler brand.

Commenting over this, Nagesh Basavanhalli, President and Managing Director said, “ India is a strategic, long-term market and we are bullish on it. We are planning to luanch nine models by 2016, of which five will be launched by the end of 2014. The Chrysler models will cater to a more premium segment.”

It is believed that Fiat will introduce Chrysler brand products with a top-down approach, which will make it stand against rival brands like Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar Land Rover and others. Also, the company is concerned with its dealership networks, so it aims to reach 150 mark of Fiat dealers by end of this year.
