Italian carmaker Ferrari has been on the social media website, Facebook since 2009 and has, in just 3 short years, reached the milestone of 10 million fans. In order to patronise this milestone, Ferrari has released a short cartoon that depicts Ferrari Chairman, Luca di Montezemolo sitting at his table and working. The cartoon then shows 10 million table fans blowing papers, flowerpots, car parts and eventually the Chairman away.
The cartoon has been titled '10 million fans are not a breeze.' While 10 million fans is indeed a big deal, Ferrari has garned about 40 per cent of these in the last year alone, showing a growing trend in social media and their relation to car makers. The support for Ferrari is strongest in markets of the USA, France, Spain and Ferrari's home of Italy. However the trend is rising in deleveoping markets like China and India as well. Ferrari enjoys almost close to 1 million fans from India.
