General Motors India is busy as a bee, the company has lined up couple of launches for 2012. Out of these vehicles, the most anticipated vehicle by GM India is Chevrolet Enjoy MPV, which is expected to hit the Indian roads by the end of 2012. As per the Managing Director and President of General Motors India, Mr. Lowell C. Paddock, Chevrolet Enjoy will be the first car from their collaboration with SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) China. Mr. Paddock revealed this information at the launch of its new Chevrolet Tavera BS IV variant.

GM India displayed its MPV concept along with Chevrolet Sail hatchback at the 11th Auto Expo in New Delhi. The new Chevrolet Enjoy is expected to be manufactured at its Halol plant and the engine will be developed at the Talegaon plant. On the other hand, the Chevrolet Sail hatchback, which is also a product under the tie-up of GM with SAIC is expected to arrive in the Indian car market by the month of June or July 2012. When enquired about the prices of the products (Enjoy and Sail), he decided to be mum at the moment.

But, Chevrolet Sail is likely to be priced between Rs. 3 to Rs. 5 lakh, which would make it a direct competitor to Maruti Swift and Ford Figo. Furthermore, GM India is planning to step into the LCV or light commercial vehicle segment. But, presently the company is focusing on scaling up the sales volumes. The sluggish market condition is expected to be improved in the second half of this year. Adding more burden to the car makers is the hiked interest rates and sky-rocketing fuel prices. Hopefully all this will be back to normal in the second half of the year, which will make it beneficial for General Motors India and other car makers as well.
