“Now the service has become a model for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government to replicate nationwide and this latest incident shows the severe need for 'She Taxis' all over the country," said PTM Sunish, CEO She Taxi.

She Taxis is a fleet of women driven 40 pink taxis, which comes equipped with a wireless tracking gear and call centre-linked panic button. Initiated by Gender Park, under Social Justice Department, Government of Kerala, this entire service is operated by Rain Concert Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Technopark, with customized vehicles and training support from leading carmaker Maruti Suzuki.

Apart from this, transport authorities have stepped up security measures to ensure the best of safety in cabs, specially for the women passengers. The authorities have ordered radio fleet taxi companies and web-based operators to submit database of their fleet drivers. Also, these operators have been asked to come-up with a revised and more strong safety plan to be put in place by early next year.

But giving a different prospect over these measures, Director Centre for Social Research, Ranjana Kumari said “better security is the only solution and failure in law and order implementation cannot be compensated by such measures."
