London 2012 Festival gave the audiences a unique opportunity to view the collection of BMW Art Cars which were transformed into spectacular artworks by leading artists, for the first time in the U.K. Though the event ended before the opening ceremony of the Olympics 2012 but, as they say, better late than never, therefore, we thought of bringing to you the classic display of the unique BMW cars.
The Festival was organized by the ICA- Institute of Contemporary Arts, London in partnership with BMW, London 2012 Cultural Olympiad and Mayor of London. As the Head of Cultural Engagement, BMW Group, Dr. Thomas Girst described the event as the one that speaks to those who love cars, to those who love designs and to those who love contemporary art. The first ever BMW car to be adorned with contemporary art and become the first BMW art car was done in 1975 by Alexander Calder. This piece of art is still considered to be one among the best.
Though obviously nothing beats the actual viewing but now that you missed it already, we bring to you the glimpses of the same…
