Audi India continues exceptional sales performance in September 2011

Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, posted a solid performance in September 2011 with a sale of 555 cars, thus recording an impressive growth of 84 percent (September 2010: 302 cars). The luxury carmaker’s sales figure from January to September 2011 (YTD) stood at 4210 cars, a growth of 93 percent over the same period last year (January – September 2010: 2178 cars). “We attribute this phenomenal growth to our continued focus on introducing an energetic product line, qualitative network growth and strong brand pull. We launched six class-defining models this year and are focused at strengthening our dealership network not only in metros, but also in tier II & tier III cities.

We recently inaugurated Audi Surat, our second showroom in Gujarat, and plan to expand our network from the current 14 centres to 25 locations by end of 2012. Our flagship, the Audi A8L, which was launched early this year, received an overwhelming response, as expected, and we are confident that it will continue to set benchmarks in automotive excellence like it has been doing the world over. We strengthened our ‘A’ range of limousines with the launch of our design marvel, the Audi A7 Sportback in May and with the recent launch of the seventh generation Audi A6 we have further consolidated our ‘A’ portfolio in India. We are already market leaders in the luxury SUV segment with our Q5 and Q7 and in the super sports car segment with the iconic R8, and I am confident that we will be able to replicate the same success with our ‘A’ range of limousines. With our exceptional performance in the first three quarters of 2011, we are well on our way to closing the gap and in an environment where most brands are revising their targets downwards, we are bullish about exceeding our sales targets yet again this year,” said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.
