The Japanese auto giant Toyota has revealed the pricing and specifications of the RAV4 Electric Vehicle at the on going 2012 Electric Vehicle Symposium in Los Angeles. The Toyota RAV4 EV front-drive version is expected to go on sale in the car market of US this summer at a base price of $49,000 or £31,000. Hustling under the hood of this Toyota Electric Vehicle is a powertrain developed by Tesla which is capable of producing 152 BHP of power and claims a range of 100 miles.
It takes around six hours to charge the battery from the 240-volt charging station; the affixed battery pack has a warranty of eight years or 100,000 miles. The Toyota RAV4 is offered with Sport and Normal as driving modes. The Sport mode being more advanced will allow a top speed of 100 mph with a claimed time of 7.0 sec for 0-60 mph acceleration. On the other hand the normal mode allows a top speed of 85 mph and 8.6 sec as 0-60 acceleration time.
On the outside the Toyota RAV4 EV flaunts LED headlights in all three exciting color options of White, Blue and Silver. On the inside the EV will boast an 8-inch touch screen console for telematics, satellite navigation and drive information of the vehicle; connectivity in the form Bluetooth, iPod and USB is also supported. Toyota plans to sell around 2600 units of RAV4 in next three years.
