Volkswagen Polo launched at Rs 4.34 lakh

Volkswagen, German auto major, has disclosed the pricing of its new hatchback car - Volkswagen Polo. The car is priced between Rs 4.34 and Rs 6.70 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The hatchback car will be available in a 1.2 litre mill in petrol and diesel variants. The car is positioned against the likes of Honda Jazz, Maruti Swift, Maruti Ritz, Hyundai i10 and Hyundai i20. The base petrol variant of the Volkswagen Polo has a price tag of Rs 4.34 lakh while the diesel variant of the car is priced at Rs 5.32 lakh.

Volkswagen to disclose price of Polo on February 23

Volkswagen, Germany based carmaker is reportedly disclosing price of its upcoming hatchback model Volkswagen Polo in India on February 23. Company is working hard on its plans of launching Polo model with a competitive price tag so that it can sustain the tough competition of compact hatchback segment. Though till now there is no disclosure regarding the price of Polo from the company's side but it is expected that it will be launched in a price range of Rs 4.5 to Rs 6 lakhs in India.

Volkswagen Beetle, gaining grounds in India

Volkswagen Beetle, the oldest and most popular car model of German car manufacturer Volkswagen, is receiving an extraordinary response from Indian customers as company has already received 300 bookings for the model though buyers have to wait for two to three months for the delivery. The Volkswagen Beetle model was launched in India in the last quarter of 2009. The Volkswagen Beetle model was also showcased in International Delhi auto show with company's upcoming flagship compact hatchback model Volkswagen Polo. Though it has been promoted as an economical car, it costs as high as Rs 20.45 (Delhi, ex-showroom). However, if company decides to produce it in India, it will become dearer by a good margin as for this segment of cars government of India has imposed a 100% import duty. Currently company imports this model in India from its Mexico plant.

Volkswagen to export small cars from India

Volkswagen AG, Germany based car manufacturer is all set to fully establish its manufacturing facilities in India so that it can make India as its exporting hub for small cars. As Volkswagen's global competitors Maruti and Hyundai are exporting a large number of small cars from India, the company is looking to eat into the market share of these companies specially in small car segment. Volkswagen will start exporting its vehicles from second quarter of the upcoming fiscal to the markets like South-East Asia, Middle-East and Africa from India. JK Tyre India's one of the largest tyre producer today announced that it has plans of bringing Volkswagen group's popular premier car racing event 'Jetta Cup Race series' in India. According to the company the process of bringing the 'Jetta Cup Race series' in India can take a time period of three years. By bringing this popular racing event in India the company is planning to bring the country on international racing platform.   JK Tyre is the co-sponsor with Volkswagen group for the first edition of 'Polo Cup Race' which is scheduled to be organized this year in India. Company is also looking for partners to make the event bigger and better. "We have the resources to take care of the needs along with Volkswagen. Delhi Auto Expo 2010 at Pragati Maidan is the largest Indian auto fair. People were excited to see the hottest cars that were revealed in front of them. The luxury car manufacturer, Volkswagen had set a very wide pavilion in 1500 sq meter area at hall number 12. At the entrance there was a reception for providing information about the company and its models. Volkswagen Polo, Polo Cup and Volkswagen Phaeton were displayed on revolving dais. There were gorgeous models deployed to pose around car models who were surprisingly also aware about the technical specifications of Volkswagen cars. Projects with VW to start rolling in Jan

After the year-end holidays, from around January 10, Suzuki Motor Corp and Volkswagen AG will start the ball rolling on joint projects said Suzuki chief executive Osamu Suzuki. Japan's fourth-largest automaker and Volkswagen last week announced a comprehensive tie-up that will see Europe's top automaker take 19.9 per cent of Suzuki. The new partners have agreed to the fact that they want to develop a competitive, small car as a key to expand sales in developing countries.

Suzuki Motor has long been the top maker of 660cc mini vehicles, a segment that exists only in Japan. The first Alto model, launched in 1979, was Suzuki's first major project. Costing just 470,000 yen ($5,250) it became an instant hit, and cumulative sales in its 30th year hit 10 million units.

Fastest and most expensive car Bugatti set for India drive in 2010

Volkswagen AG will be launching it's most expensive and fastest legendary French car brand Bugatti car in India in 2010. Bugatti Veyron, which can driveat a top speed of more than 400 km per hour for the sports and coupe models, will cost anywhere between Rs 5 crore and Rs 12 crore when it hits the Indian roads by the mid-2010. Volkswagen, which has become the world’s largest carmaker with its takeover of Porsche, will import Bugatti cars. Kurt Rippolz, head of communication Volkswagen India, refused to confirm the development. The German carmaker, with a dozen brands in its portfolio includes Scania and Man, is now keen on bringing its high-end products such as the Porsche, Bentley and Lamborghini into India. The company is looking at various ways of using its existing networks and systems to support these brands.

Volkswagen began production of first made in India car polo


Volkswagen, the Europeans largest car maker, started production its popular mass-market polo hatchback in India on saturday and said it aimed to catch up to 10 per cent fast growing auto mobile market within the next six years. The Volkswagen Polo a compact hatchback, Volkswagen's rolled out its first locally manufacture from its plant, which is staying in Pune, Western India. The Pune plant capacity to produce 110,000 cars annually, is a key plank in Volkswagen's India strategy. Company has committed US$850 million in the plant, its biggest investment so far in India. Spokesman of Volkswagen Kurt Rippholz  told reporters that the company turned into India since 2001, now holds 1.5 per cent of the Indian Market. The Indian price for the polo has not yet been unveil. Spokesman said," Volkswagen will be launched in the mass-market segment and hence this is a important step.

Volkswagen to buy 20 pc of Japan's Suzuki

The German car maker Volkswagen will buy nearly 20 percent of Japan's Suzuki for more than 2.5 billion dollars, giving Volkswagen a solid footprint in the Indian automarket. Europe's biggest car maker, already has a strong presence in China but wants to expand its Asian reach in an alliance with the Japanese compact car manufacturer. Suzuki said the 19.9-percent stake is worth about 222.5 billion yen and that it is planning to invest up to one half of the amount received from Volkswagen into shares of Volkswagen. PSA Peugeot Citroen of France had a word with Mitsubishi, and the partners Renault and Nissan have said they would launch 'an ultra low-cost car' in India in 2012 to take on Tata's Nano.

Volkswagen Beetle launching in Mumbai on Dec 4, '09

Volkswagen AG, the German auto major, has just launched an integrated 360 degree communication campaign using print, electronic, digital and out-of-home media for the first time in India. Now the company is ready to launch its Volkswagen Beetle model in Mumbai on 4th December 2009. The company intends to utilise the Volkswagen Beetle as a brand building tool as it's gearing up to enter the compact car segment by 2010.

The upcoming Volkswagen Beetle would sport a 2.0 litre, 115hp petrol engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Volkswagen polo to be launched next year

Volkswagen, German auto manufacturer, is going to launch its Volkswagen Polo in the very first-half of the next year. The information was shared by Neeraj Garg, Member of the Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars. He added that the sedan version would be unveiled by the end of the next year. Volkswagen Polo is under testing process. The hatchback would be available in petrol and diesel versions. The company is mulling over to launch the Beetle and Touareg in India soon.

Polo 2010 undergoes a trial production

Volkswagen Polo 2010, the Volkswagen model is undergoing a trial production at its Chakan plant near Pune. Volkswagen Polo is set for it's launch in India by March 2010. Volkswagen will start the full commercial production of the plant from January 2010.

Although technical details of the car have not revealed yet but according to sources it is expected to be powered by 1.2L petrol engine and a 1.6L diesel engine later on. It is said that around 70-80 per cent of indigenization will be available as both hatchback and sedan versions.

Since VW has already realized the importance of price sensitivity of the Indian market, VW is making no mistakes while pricing its new model. Volkswagen is targeting a price of Rs. 4 lakh for its brand new car launching by this year-end or early next year. VW is ready to introduce its small car model Volkswagen Polo in the Indian auto market powered by 1.2L petrol engine.

It will sell at least 25,000 units annually in India. The car that will be placed in the A2 segment will fall in the same segment as Honda Jazz. They have probably learned from the fate of other car models that terribly failed due to hefty price tag like Skoda model Skoda Fabia and Honda Jazz that picked up slow.

IFC to invest €60 million in VW India

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) will provide a loan up to €60 million from its own account and a syndicated loan up to €75 million to Volkswagen India’s Plant in Pune. Volkswagen India’s plant at Chakan in Pune was inaugurated recently. IFC may consider an equity or quasi-equity component within the proposed €60 million investment, according to information on IFC’s Web site. IFC will also explore the possibility of offering advisory services to further develop Volkswagen’s local supplier base.

Jochem Heizmann, member of the Board of Management of Germany;s Volkawagen, agreed with the statement of all experts that there would be strong growth from 1.2 million vehicles at the moment to over 2 million in the following five years. He also added that India is feeling the effects of the global financial and economic crisis and growth of the local automobile market has slowed down in the second half of 2008. Volkswagen’s Chakan plant will be inaugurated on Tuesday. VW’s Polo hatchback and sedan will be manufactured from here. Skoda Fabia will be produced in the plant after two months. It is expected that both the cars will be launched in India next year. The hatchback is expected to launch within the first quarter of 2010 and the sedan in the second quarter.

Leading car manufacturer Volkswagen registered a record sales growth last year. Company met all of its targets of sales and revenue of last year and this was the record figure in the history of Volkswagen. the sales revenue of the company grown up by 4.5%  While the unit sales of the company growed by around 1.3%. Company's profit figure rose up by 3% compare to last year. Company sold 6.3 million vehicles.

Volkswagen to launch People's car Beetle in India

Volkswagen ready to launch new cars in India

Europe’s largest car maker, Volkswagen group, is now ready to roll out cars from its Chakan based manufacturing plant by April 2009. The deadline of the project has been pre-poned nearly a year ahead of its schedule. The decision from the company comes as a result of increase in Volkswagen Group’s sales despite the slump in the Indian car market. The company has registered a 66% growth in this year from the month of January to October.
