Auto News India - Toyota to recall Prius this week

Toyota Prius model was showcased in Delhi Auto Show with Toyota's upcoming cars like Toyota Etios last month and it was recently introduced in the US market and the car becomes very popular because it uses eco-friendly technology in which it uses a combination of battery-powered electric motor with a petrol combustion engine. According to news reports Prius model will be recalled to repair a software programme due to which anti-lock braking system become faulty. Due to this problem around 2,70,000 vehicles will be recalled in Japan and US only.
Yomiuri Shimbun, a Japanese news paper reported that, "The company has notified its dealers in Japan that it would recall all the (new model Prius) vehicles sold in the country". Reporting further about the issue Yomiuri Shimbun added that, announcement regarding the recall of Prius model is expected to come in a week and "the company has notified its dealers in Japan that it would recall all the (new model Prius) vehicles sold in the country,"
According to news reports Japan's ministry of transport received around 80 complaints about fault in braking system in the company's vehicle and at the same time the company itself received about 100 complaints regarding the same problem. Akio Toyoda, Toyota's president, said on Friday that he was deeply sorry for the series of quality related issues and said he would head a new task force to raise standards and investigate the cause of the problems.
