View Full Detail »Bajaj Auto one of India's largest two wheeler manufacturer which is in process to launch a ultra low cost car model in India will manufacture this model using about 70% parts of its two wheeler and three wheeler from manufacturing unit. It is expected that because of using these parts the company will manage to cut down its expenses from Rs 1500 crore to Rs 200 to Rs 300 crore.
Earlier in year 2008 the Nissan-Mahindra Renault and Bajaj Auto jointly given a statement according to which all of these three company will jointly manufacturer an ultra low cost car in India. It was announced that in this joint venture these companies will manufacture about 4 lakh units of this ultra low cost car.
Tata Nano, Mahindra Renault/Nissan alliance finalised a deal with Bajaj Auto on Tuesday to produce an ultra-low cost car by 2012. Mahindra Renault/Nissan Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn, said he had worked out the broad contours of a highly fuel-efficient ultra low-cost car project with Bajaj MD Rajiv Bajaj that would be out by 2012.
Although Carlos Ghosn refused to confirm whether the companies had signed a formal joint venture detailing concrete investment and production plans. When asked about the price range of the car and whether it will be cheaper than the Nano, Carlos Ghosn said, "I am sure that the cost of the car will be lower than any car made in India". He also made it clear that production cost of the car could be different from its market price.

According to news reports leaving behind all differences both companies now eagerly working on this plan. View Full Detail »French auto major Mahindra Renault said it will offer to launch a full range of products in India and the company is working constantly to line up the right product, even as it tries to sort out differences with partners in the country.
Mahindra Renault Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn said, " Mahindra Renault will have much more products for India. There will be a full line up of products of Mahindra Renault for India and we have not come to India to sell one specific car. It's coming to India to contribute to the development of the Indian market and will come up with a complete line up."
Carlos Ghosn the head of the Mahindra Renault and Nissan said today that he is keen to continue with just one among its Indian partners like Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Auto and Ashok Leyland. The first venture is with Mahindra and Mahindra in which Mahindra Renault has 49% of the venture. In this venture the company makes Entry level Sedan model Mahindra Logan. Mahindra Renault is also in process with Bajaj Auto and Nissan group for making a small car model in India though no official announcement has been made in this regard so far. In Tokyo Motor Show Ghosn further elaborated that in the case of no conclusion they can think about a new product with a new partner in India. He was talking to the press Trust of India in Tokyo Motor Show. “I am not saying we will, I am saying we can. I don’t want anybody to be surprised. We have three partners (in India) today. Our intention is to continue with the three partners, but if it is not possible, I can tell you that we need at least one,” Ghosn said.
In response to the query on weather Mahindra Renault was unhappy with the dismal performance of its joint venture vehicle Mahindra Renault Logan with Mahindra and Mahindra he said that “It is a matter of concern. Every time your sales go down on any model, not only in India, we always check why. We are going to try for some more time. He further elaborated that If it does not work then we will go with a second car, probably with a different partner. We are in India to stay".
