Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI), leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, sold 55,884 units during the period April '09 - February '10 as against 45,052 units during the same period last year recording an increase of 24%. The company sold 6275 units during the month of February'10 as against 5579 units sold during the corresponding month last year recording an increase of 12.5%. Company's February sales includes 233 units of premium hatchback Honda Jazz, 5076 models of entry level sedan Honda City model, 538 units of luxury sedan Honda Civic, 299 units of higher luxury sedan Honda Accord and 129 units of Honda CRV model.

Honda India, a subsidiary of Honda Motors (Japan based) has launched a new base version of its most popular sedan model Honda City, the E variant which was discontinued by the company after launching its premium hatchback Honda Jazz in India. Honda Jazz and the base (E) variant of Honda City come in the same price range, so after launching the Honda Jazz model company decided to discontinue this base variant but now as the Honda Jazz model is not doing as per the expectations the company has decided to again launch this variant in the country. As per the news reports the new Honda City E variant is priced at Rs. 7.94 lakh (ex-showroom, Bangalore). The Honda City model now has four variants in India including Honda City EMT, Honda City SMT, Honda City VMT and Honda City VAT model. The top variants of Honda City costs about Rs. 9.58 lakh. Honda India, a subsidiary of Japan based Honda Motors is all set to start production at its second plant in India. Earlier the company had plans of establishing a plant in Rajasthan but idea was dropped due to decreasing auto sales at that time. The company will possibly start the production at its second plant once its first plant near New Delhi will reach to its maximum capacity of 100,000 units. The Second plant of Honda will be started with a capacity of 60,000 units and for this the company has invested Rs 10 billion rupees ($ 215 millions).The Honda Siel India Ltd (HSIL) has managed to sold 49,609 units in the period of April 2009 to January 2010 which accounts for a rise of 25% in company's sales as compared to the same period of last fiscal.

Honda Ciel India Ltd. (HCIL), a subsidiary of Japan based Honda Motors announced on Saturday that it would call back 8,532 units of its 2nd generation Honda City models which were manufactured in year 2007. According to the company around 8,532 Honda City models which were manufactured in India in year 2007 will be recalled due to faulty window switches. Company further cleared that the 3rd generation models of Honda City which has been sold in India will not be recalled as the 3rd generation model doesn't require replacement of parts, just a day before the announcement by the company that there will be no recall of Honda Jazz model in India as only second generation model of Honda Jazz has been sold here, which does not need any part replacement.

Honda Jazz, a premium compact car which was coming at a price range of Rs 6.98 lakh to Rs 7.33 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) is now available with a discount of Rs 40,000 and with attractive interest rates on loans. This action has been taken to clear stocks of the 2009 model. Honda Jazz had seen decline in retail sales as in December 2009; 1,066 units were produced out of which only 269 units were sold which has caused stock pile up. Honda Motor Co has now decided to focus on bright spots India and China, although it will not build an ultra low-cost car to take on Tata Nano. Chief executive Takanobu Ito said on Wednesday, "Japan's second-largest automaker was researching a new compact car for Asian markets and more specifically for India, where it launched its first small car, the Honda Jazz hatchback, earlier this year."
When asked about a recovery in these markets Takanobu Ito also said, "I wish I had the magic to predict these numbers." "In terms of business planning, we are not predicting an immediate recovery to their original levels."
Honda's Japan operations are expected to stay in red though demand has been brisk, helped by generous tax reductions and incentives on hybrids such as its new Insight model.
Honda Siel Cars India has launched a new version of Honda CR-V, a sports utility vehicle. The new Honda CR-V will be available in three variants with an powertrain capacity of 2.0-2.4 litre. The SUV is priced between Rs 21.9 lakh and Rs 24.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company has sold around 12,500 units of the SUV since it was launched in 2003. The new SUV, Honda CR-V, comes loaded with a re-sculpted hood & front bumper design, a refreshed look, oval shape fog lamps redefining the individuality of the vehicle and sporting a new two-step front grille. Honda Motor Co head said he would consider more on launching electric cars in the US, Europe and Japan, a sign Japan's No. 2 automaker is changing its strategy for the next generation of fuel-efficient vehicles.

The new variant of the Honda City has been launched as part of the Great Honda Fest promotion on Tuesday. Toyota and Honda Motors, the very well known Japanese carmakers have asked the Indian government to change the existing policy of classifying a car as small that attracts lower taxes in the country.
Toyota is looking at a new second plant near Bangalore to make small car, which would rollout in the market probably in early 2011. Toyota also plans to make India its export hub for the proposed global small car project and export cars by 2012.

Honda Siel Cars India registered a rise of 130 units in the month of May. This shows 3.3 per cent rise in car sales. In May 09, the company sold 4,073 units as against 3,943 units in the same month the previous year. Honda Siel Cars India Vice-President (Marketing) Jnaneswar Sen said that the new Honda City has been performing very well ever since its launch and this month it topped the sales chart with the sell of 3,638 units.
